In elevators provided with firefighters' emergency operation, a drain or sump pump shall be provided. The sump pump/drain shall have the capacity to remove a minimum of 3,000 gal/hour per elevator. The current sump pump does not meet these requirements. There is a long run (at least 30'-40') of 1 1/2" schedule 40 PVC pipe with at least a dozen 90 degree fittings decreasing the capacity of the pump.

2.8.3.3.2 - Where elevator equipment is located or its enclosure is configured such that application of water from sprinklers could cause unsafe elevator operation, means shall be provided to automatically disconnect the main line power supply to the affected elevator and any other power supplies used to move the elevator upon or prior to the application of water. When tested, the heat detector associated with the sprinkler in the control space did not activate the shunt trip and remove power as required.

2.1.6.2 - Building construction making an angle less than 75 degrees with the horizontal shall not project more than 4 inches inside the hoistway enclosure unless the top surface of the projection is beveled at an angle not less than 75 degrees with the horizontal. All the ledge in the hoistway including the pit, projecting over 4" shall be beveled at no less than 75 degrees from the horizontal as required.

A disconnect protecting the cab lighting branch circuit shall be located in the elevator machine room or control space. The lighting disconnect in the control space currently disconnects the GFCI receptable in that space. It shall disconnect and protect the car lighting branch circuit as required.

2.7.3.3.1 - A permanent, fixed, noncombustible ladder or stair shall be provided where the floor of the room or the space above or below the floor or roof from which the means of access leads, or where the distance between floor levels in the room or space, is more than 8 inches. This applies to the 14" difference in floor heights between the garage floor and the platform used for elevator control space access.

2.7.3.3.5 - A permanent, noncombustible platform or floor shall be provided at the top of the stairs conforming with the following: (a) Railings conforming to 2.10.2 shall be provided on each open side. (b) The floor of the platform shall be at the level of not more than 8 inches below the level of the access-door sill. (c) The depth of the platform shall be not less than 29.5 inches and the width not less than the width of the door. (d) The size of the platform shall be sufficient to permit the full swing of the door plus 24 inches from the top riser to the swing line of the door. The concrete floor or platform providing access to the control space shall be in compliance with (a) and (d) above, and also shall be equipped with standard railing meeting the requirements of A17.1 2016 2.10.2.
