The device has been temporarily wrapped up rendering it inoperable in case of an actual emergency. Repair and reset all “smoke guard” barrier devices to operate as designed.
ASME A17.1 2004 with 2005 Addendum and 2005 : Elevators	1.18 - Restricted opening of car or hoistway doors	2.12.5 Restricted Opening of Hoistway or Car Doors (Re-Inspection)	x	The car door restrictor device shall be adjusted so that it will properly catch and restrict opening of the car doors to a maximum of 4 inches when the car is away from the landing zone. Reinspection is required.
ASME A17.1 2004 with 2005 Addendum and 2005 : Elevators	3.16 - Traveling cables and junction boxes	2.8.1		The car traveling cable, underneath the car, is cracked through the outer insulation as the car reaches the lobby. Confirm that no internal wires have been affected and repair or replace traveling cable.
