The car door restrictor device shall be adjusted so that it will properly catch and restrict opening of the car doors to a maximum of 4 inches when the car is away from the landing zone. Reinspection is required. Per Asst. State Fire Marshall Greg Carrell, G.1 is the correct code section for this violation.

When sprinkler systems are present in the hoistway, means shall be provided to automatically disconnect the main power supply to the affected elevator prior to the application of water. A smoke detector shall also be installed to recall the elevator before the power is removed before the application of water.
