The elevator machine and control equipment shall be located in a separate room designed as an elevator machine room and shall be accessible only to authorized personnel. No equipment shall be added to the machine room or space that is not used in connection with the operation of the elevator. It appears that the elevator machine room may have been altered and is no longer conforming to this requirement.
