(H)5 (Machine Room Lighting)
The machine room lighting has been changed to a motion type switch to activate. While this is an energy saving measure, it also is a safety/code concern. Without motion, the switch deactivates the lighting, thereby leaving maintenance personnel with no lighting. Remove motion type switch to a conventional on/off switch.

8.6.5.5.2 Oil Leakage Collection
There is no packing gland oil catch bucket in the pit on the machine room side. I plastic hose has been installed that goes directly from the packing gland to the hydraulic oil tank in the machine room. The current adopted code requires “oil loss detection” which cannot be obtained with the current method. A oil catch bucket shall be installed and oil loss shall be recorded in the maintenance control program. The hole in the hoistway/machine room wall shall be sealed to maintain the fire resistance rating.
