The escalator has been placed out of service and is being used as a means of egress. The escalator shall be either returned to service or properly barricaded to prevent the public from using the escalator as a stairway.

8.6.1.4 Maintenance Records
|

There shall be maintenance records kept in the escalator machine space accessible to the inspector depicting dates and descriptions of maintenance tasks performed, callbacks, examinations, tests, adjustments, replacements and wiring diagrams. This shall be in accordance to the requirements in the Maintenance Control Program.

Escalator malfunctioned and quit running during test. Need to perform the following tests to complete inspection: test drive machine brake torque, stop switches in machine space, all upthrust devices, test all skirt switches, step chain carriage switches, perform step indexing test & test handrail inlet switches. Re-inspection required
