4. The movement of the car initiated and maintained by the access switch at the lowest landing shall be limited in the up direction to the point where the bottom of the platform guard is even with hoistway entrance header. The elevator will not run back down after it?s been ran up to its limit.

4. When the counterweight displacement switch is activated, the elevator, if in motion, shall initiate an emergency stop and then proceed away from the counterweight at a speed of not more than 150 ft/min to the nearest available floor, open the doors, and shut down. The counterweight displacement switch is activated by two wires running the length of the hoistway; the one on the left side does not function. When shorted the elevator does not cause displacement switch to activate.
