The emergency rescue battery in the controller has not been changed since 2019. The manufacture’s recommendation for replacement is 3 years. Replacement of the battery before the elevator shuts down due to battery being depleted is required.

The testing has not been completed on the elevator at this time, the elevator was placed out of service due to governor failure. The weight test shall be performed, safeties set, and buffers compressed before the inspection is completed.

Upon performing the required five year full load, the elevator safety governor was found to be worn to a degree that the pull-through force was overly excessive and could potentially permanently damage the elevator safeties if testing proceeded. The elevator has been removed from service. Repair or replacement of the governor is required and a reinspection shall be performed before the elevator can be returned to service.
