The emergency rescue battery in the controller has not been changed since 2019. The manufacture’s recommendation for replacement is 3 years. Replacement of the battery before the elevator shuts down due to battery being depleted is required.

The testing has not been completed on this elevator, the elevator was removed from service and complete inspection of this elevator could not be performed. The governor failed inspection and the safeties could not be set. A reinspection is required.

Upon performing the required five year full load, the elevator safety governor was found to be worn to a degree that the pull-through force was overly excessive and could potentially permanently damage the elevator safeties if testing proceeded. The elevator has been removed from service. Repair or replacement of the governor is required. This shall require an alteration permit, alteration inspection and a reinspection performed before the elevator will have a certificate of compliance issued.

Upon pre-inspecting this governor for the required five year full load, the elevator safety governor was found to be worn to a degree that per the manufacturer specifications it shall be “replaced within 6 months”. Repair or replacement of the governor is required. This shall require an alteration permit, alteration inspection and a reinspection performed before the elevator will have a certificate of compliance issued.
