An excessive amount of wear was found on the governor sheave and would not allow the elevator car safeties to activate as designed. The governor shall be replaced before the elevator will be allowed to return to service. A reinspection and alteration permit is required.

The testing has not been completed on the elevator at this time. The backup emergency power and fireman’s service shall be tested before the inspection is completed.
