An uninterruptible power supply for the emergency lowering operation was sitting on the floor of the machine room. When an elevator is equipped with this device, it has to be operational and can't be removed without the permission of the MO AHJ. Note: This has auxiliary power unit has not yet been re-installed. ASME A17.1 2004 with 2005 Addendum and 2005 : Elevators 4.5 - Access to Hoistway 8.6.4.14 Hoistway Access Switches Hoistway access switches shall be maintained. The hoistway access key-switch at the bottom landing in the hallway has a broken bezel and was pushed through the fixture, exposing a hole into the fixture box. It shall be repaired or replaced.
