The suspension cables shall be replaced and tagged. The ropes are undersized, bottoming out in the gauge in various spots, have crown breaks, and are in the presence of considerable rouge. This meets the replacement criteria outlined in A17.6 - 1.10. Additionally, the rouge shall be removed from the hoistway, machine, and brakes. - Elevator Red Tagged.

The category 5 test/annual inspection was halted after the condition of the ropes was discovered. After the ropes are replaced, any remaining testing items, as well as, the complete category 5 test shall be completed.

Anything not listed here still needs to be tested: Items completed - The hoistway was run including the pit and passed. The governor was tested as required and passed. The emergency lights, alarm bell and phone were tested and passed. The rest of the tests have yet to be performed.
