3.27.3 Device Actuation at Recall Level

When sprinklers are installed in elevator pits, automatic fire detection shall be installed to initiate elevator recall in accordance with 3.27. A waterflow switch shall be permitted to initiate elevator recall upon activation of a sprinkler installed in the elevator pit, provided the waterflow switch and pit sprinkler are installed on a separately valved sprinkler line dedicated solely for protecting the elevator pit, and the waterflow switch is provided without time-delay capability. Note: the flow switch shall activate the fire hat and alternate floor recall.
