When sprinklers are installed in elevator pits, automatic fire detection shall be installed to initiate elevator recall in accordance with 2.27.3.2.1( c) of A17.1 2016, A17.2 item 6, CSR 40-5.065(S)1 , NFPA 72 2013 21 .3.3, 21 .3.7, 21 .3.8, 21 .4, 21 .5 Note: A water-flow switch shall be permitted to initiate elevator recall upon activation of a sprinkler installed at the bottom of the elevator hoist-way (the elevator pit), provided the waterflow switch and pit sprinkler are installed on a separately valved sprinkler line dedicated solely for protecting the elevator pit, and the water-flow switch is provided without time-delay capability.
