There are windows in the hoistway. Windows in the walls of hoistway enclosures are prohibited. Note: A completely new elevator was installed in an existing hoistway that had windows in it. Customer to apply for a variance.

Exterior hoistway windows shall be guarded to prevent entrance by fire or emergency rescue persons. Each such window shall be marked "Hoistway" in a readily visible manner. Note: Currently signage says "Shaftway" and signage is located below each window. Customer may apply for a variance.
