The current hoistway door interlock does not prevent the door from being opened when the car is away from the landing. The door shall be provided with approved interlocks. Red tag, unit placed out of service until repaired and reinspected.

The gate restrictor device shall be repaired so the door or gate of the car will be properly restricted and restrict the opening of the gate with the maximum of 4 inches when the car is away from a landing zone. Reinspection is required.
