8.6.4.15 - 2-way communication device calls 911, reprogram to non-emergency dispatch or other appropriate number. Note: The 911 dispatcher was perturbed that the elevator phone was set to dial 911 directly. The phone auto-dials. It is suggested that location get permission from 911 dispatch for phone to dial 911, or change number to non-emergency line or other appropriate acceptable number for monitoring. The elevator code does not prohibit the calling of 911 via the emergency phone.
