8.6.5.8 - Need to determine if this unit is a single bottom jack. If unit is a single bottom type, corrective action shall be taken. If it is determined this unit is not a single bottom type, documentation shall be kept on-site for elevator personnel to confirm.

During 15 minute standing test the elevator was dropping. The mechanic shut the valve and the car quit dropping likely indicating the oil is leaking back through the valve. The valve needs rebuilt or replaced.
