The buffers, pit channels, and/or the compensating sheave assembly, which are visible from the pit access door, shall be marked with the car identification number with a minimum of 2 inches in height and of a contrasting color to its background.

The identification number for each elevator shall be painted on, engraved, or securely attached adjacent to or on every elevator entrance at the designated level, and shall be a minimum of 3 inches in height.
